Wheatsheaf Jam Sessions: Every Monday night 8 till close. A friendly Jam Session that will give you an ideal opportunity to hone your performance skills. No need to be shy, musicians of all levels are using this venue. Blues and Jazz are played at this event along with most other genres. Sweeney's Bar, Keswick: There is Jazz here every Friday night commencing at 9.30 pm and going on until 11.30 or later, sometimes after midnight if every body is having a good time. Usually features a three piece line up. Alternate weeks more or less Nick Telfer+2 (Usually regular Bayou Rhythm Kings member Russ Irving and Frank McKee) and Dan Holden+2 (Often Steve Andrews and Roy Cansdale) This is down home good time music, a la New Orleans. We play to entertain. Admission is free and dogs are welcome.
Smooth Groove: A Jazz Band formed, from the members of the Jam Side Up Jazz Club. If available, the band will support charity events in return for out of pocket expenses only. THE BAYOU RHYTHM KINGS: Usually a three or four piece band led by Nick Telfer, playing lively stomping extrovert Jazz and Blues in the New Orleans Tradition, The band can be expanded to a five,six or seven piece given suitable notice if required.
